Sometimes it becomes necessary to repaint areas of the inside of your home or office. How much does it cost? Well, as much as I would love to give you an exact square foot price, or price per room, it is not that simple. There are many factors that should go into the pricing of painting an interior room. Some of those details include:

• What is the condition of the walls? Is there significant drywall repair needed? Is there wallpaper that needs removed? Is there currently a color on the wall that will be challenging to cover over?
• What color do you want to change to? This is important to know because it will determine how many coats of paint are necessary…and if a primer is necessary as well.
• Is there furniture that you expect us to move? We prefer to come into a room that already has the furniture pushed into the middle of the room…and the pictures already removed from the walls. We are, however, happy to help with the furniture.
• How high are the walls? Is it a tall foyer or an 8 foot bedroom?
• Is there a specific coating that you would like to use? Like anything else, there are different lines of paint that come with different price tags.
• Do you want the trim and/or ceilings painted in addition to just painting of the walls? Interior paint prices are changed by adding the painting of the ceilings and adding the painting of the trim or doors.
• Does it make sense to do it myself? That is a question that only you can answer. To be honest, before I became a house painting contractor, I always painted my home myself. I consider myself a do-it-yourselfer. If I am completely honest, it looked like a do-it-yourselfer painted my walls. It takes a lot of time to develop the skills of a professional painter. Straight cut lines, even coatings, and professional wall repairs are not an easy result to get. Here are some factors to consider if you are painting your home yourself:
  • Is it safe?
  • Do I have the proper ladders and tools to keep this job safe?
  • Do I have time?
  • Are there better things that I can do with my time?
  • Am I really saving money? Reputable contractors get a discount on the materials to paint your home.
  • What is your time worth?
  • Are the final results of my interior job going to live up to my expectations?
  • Will I be happy with the way my interior paint job of my home or business looks?
