Warm Up Your Home with These Paint Colors
As the temperature outside is starting to cool down, home colors are really starting to warm up. While whites, off-whites, and grays are still highly popular, there is definitely a trend toward colors with a bit more warmth. As with all trends and colors, if you wait long enough, they all come back around. That certainly seems to be the case as I have more and more clients interested in neutrals that lean more brown or tan than gray.
There are some beautiful tones out there that stay warm without taking on the yellow or orange undertones that are sometimes associated with brown. Depending on how dark you want your paint color, here are some great options.
Warm Paint Colors We Love
Porpoise (SW 7047) is a gorgeous dark brown with a hint of gray and green paint color. It is dark enough to add some drama to a space without becoming so dark it almost appears black. It is also in great company, sharing the color strip with some proven winners: the ever-popular Worldly Gray (SW 7043) and the 2020 Sherwin Williams’ color of the year, Urbane Bronze (SW 7048).
Next on the list to warm up your space is Warm Stone (SW 7032). Warm Stone lives up to its name, reminiscent of a tone you’d find in some slate stacked stone or alongside a rocky creek bed. Warm and muted brown paint color, it is a nice middle-brown tone that doesn’t pull overly gray or purple as do some of its neighboring colors. Near the middle of the color strip, it is a deep, rich color that provides nice contrast inside or out, and could pair nicely with creamy brick or some crisp white crown molding.
The lightest option of the three, Tony Taupe (SW 7038) is a cozy, creamy tan that will definitely bring some warmth and color to a space. Tony Taupe is a great option if you want more tan than gray but want to stay away from a brown with too much orange. I would still categorize it in the greige family, albeit on the tan side, since it still has more gray than a true beige, and less pink for sure. As a result of the brown in Tony Taupe, it also pairs well with a cooler gray, such as Gray Clouds (SW 7658) or Gray Matters (SW 7066).
This pairing of cool and warm tones helps add layers of color and helps maintain balance in the space. With so many amazing warm paint colors to choose from, pair them, layer them, LOVE them!
