How Fast Can You Paint a House Exterior?
When deciding to get the exterior of your house painted, one of the first questions that comes to mind is, “How long does it take to paint a house exterior?” The average answer is about 1-3 days, though after many years of experience, we have learned that the time to finish painting a house varies greatly depending on certain determining factors, those being the size of the house, the choice of paint crew and proper planning.
Size of House Exterior
The first factor and probably most obvious one is the size of the house. We paint homes anywhere from 800 square feet to 12,000 square feet. There would clearly be a vast difference in completion speeds between those 2 projects. The timeline also varies depending on what specifically is being painted. Are we just painting trim, or trim and siding? If we are painting both, then obviously the project won’t be painted as fast.
Size and Speed of Paint Crew
Another notable thing to consider is the size of the crew that is painting the house. We use professional crews anywhere from 1 to 6 people in size. Some crews are too big for a job, and other crews are too small. We leave it to the experienced project managers to select the most appropriate crew to use on a given job. This way, the project is executed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Planning to Paint a House
Other minor factors include things like adding additional colors to the house at the last minute, having trouble reaching part of the house, or not having entry through gates that need unlocked. These are secondary considerations, but can have a significant affect on the speed of your project. That’s why it is important to plan projects ahead of time to make sure these situations are avoided.
Customers are also always notified that weather can extend the timing of any project. It is difficult to paint exteriors in heavy rain or snow, and if the temperature is too cold, paint will not adhere properly. If you want to avoid delays, the best time to schedule an exterior paint project is usually somewhere between late March and early November. As long as you listen and cooperate with the project manager, things will go smoothly.
There are so many factors that affect the timing of an exterior painting project. When speaking to customers, we definitely do not define an exact date and time. But the great thing about Elite Pro Painting is, we have project managers who communicate with their customers on a daily basis, consistently updating them on progress and estimated finish times! It is important to be fast when painting a house exterior, but it is more important to assure the work is of the best quality.
